Portuguese Minister of Economy at Portugal Makes Sense conferences

“Technological Partnerships for Success” was the theme of Portugal Makes Sense conferences, attended by the Portuguese Minister of Economy and Maritime Affairs, António Costa Silva, the Member of the Board of the Association of Chambers of Industry and Commerce of Germany (DIHK), Volker Treier, and the Ambassadors of Portugal in Germany, Francisco Ribeiro de Menezes, and of Germany in Portugal, Martin Ney.

Carlos Ribas from BOSCH Portugal, Marcos Sampaio from Celoplás, Pedro Pires de Miranda from SIEMENS Portugal, Nuno Flores from Introsys and Rui Magalhães from CEiiA were featured in a debate, in a display of German and Portuguese companies that are successful cases of technological cooperation in different sectors and in different markets.

The Minister of Economy referred to the great challenges facing the European economy, including decarbonisation, mobility, and renewable energy. He emphasised Portugal’s capabilities in these economic activities, some of which have reached appreciable levels of maturity. Costa Silva also underlined the many opportunities for collaboration between Portuguese companies with talent and industrial capacity and German companies looking for locations to establish their production for the European and global markets.

Costa e Silva also referred very positively to the expected results of this demonstration of the technological and industrial capacity of Portuguese companies, encouraging Portuguese and German partners to strengthen their links, selecting Portugal as a destination for investment in the production or development of new products and solutions in the fields of energy, mobility and smart cities.

For the German ambassador in Lisbon, Martin Ney, the technological evolution registered in Portugal in recent years is truly extraordinary, and the German companies already settled in the Portuguese market are registering success stories that will certainly influence other German and international entrepreneurs.

The ambassador of Portugal in Berlin, Francisco Ribeiro de Menezes, underlined the enormous interest that German companies have shown for the productive and research capacities existing in Portugal, an interest that motivates them to seek partnerships that enhance and intensify the relations between the two countries.

The DIHK Member of the Board Volker Treier highlighted the open, transparent, and affectionate way in which business relations are in Portugal, which has greatly facilitated the activity of German entrepreneurs, who count on the collaboration and support of AHK – the German-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lisbon.
