7th Portugal Makes Sense Conference: «Mobility – New energy charging solutions»

The ambition of the national strategy for hydrogen is to make Portugal an active contributor to the decarbonisation of Europe, achieving the national goal of  a green economy by 2050, said Elvira Fortunato, Minister of Science and Technology, at the 7th Portugal Makes Sense Conference, at HANNOVER MESSE 2022.

The Portuguese companies REN, Efacec and PRF also participated in this conference, dedicated to Energy Solutions, which  mainly focused on new energy solutions for mobility, rational and automated management of networks, and consumption by economic agents.

When it comes to the highlights, the spotlight is on hydrogen and especially green hydrogen, which sparked the curiosity and interest of many visitors to HANNOVER MESSE who pass by the booths of Portuguese companies in the energy sector.

Elvira Fortunato stressed the need to start consolidating many of the ongoing projects in the hydrogen sector, so that this new source of clean energy becomes an element of stability in the national electricity system and contributes to the energy transition centred on hydrogen, accelerating decarbonisation and improving the sustainability of the economy.

The Minister of Science and Technology argued that it is also necessary to invest in clean gases, converting the research that is being done in this field into production, noting that this presents promising results as a new energy resource ally of the “green deal”.

For Elvira Fortunato, the aim is to encourage close cooperation between research entities and industrial companies in order to develop energy solutions suited to the challenges of decarbonisation and sustainability to which we are all committed.

REN, EFACEC and PRF positioned themselves at this conference as leading players in this cluster of Energy Solutions, presenting their resources and solutions already on the market and affirming their ambition to grow internationally as providers of specialized services in this area.
